Mom and Baby Are Doing Great: A Solo Performance
Written and Performed by Amalia Adiv
Directed by Tara Falk
Presented with support from the Denver Theatre District and the Trotsky Family Foundation

"Birth is what the best, most American stories are made of… but we don't really talk about it."

We all know the announcement. It comes two to five days after a new baby makes their entrance: "We are so in love! Mom and baby are doing great!" And then we move on while the baby adjusts to bright lights and cold air, and mom quietly pieces herself back together.

In a new solo show, Mom and Baby Are Doing Great, playwright, performer, and new mom Amalia Adiv tells the story we skip over. Using research, interviews, and documentary theatre practices, Amalia weaves her own birth and postpartum story with the voices of others into a funny, heartbreaking, and brutally honest investigation of birth and all that comes with it. She invites us to question our fear of bodies, blood, birthing, and the profound mystery of the event that brings all of us Earthside.

This presentation of Mom and Baby Are Doing Great is a developmental workshop production.

Workshop Performance Dates:
Friday, April 24 at 10am (babies welcome under 5 months of age)
Saturday, April 25 at 7pm
Sunday, April 26 at 2pm
